Ratcliffe's_Flowers_001.JPG
The neon Ratcliffe's Flower sign still hangs outside the Mediterranean Revival Style Ratcliffe Flowers building, a Charlotte landmark located in downtown Charlotte, NC. Built in the 1920s, the building that originally housed a florist shop became a restaurant (Carpe Diem) in the 1990s. When the building was transformed into the midrise Ratcliffe Condos in 2002, the shop was moved during construction and then replaced in its original position. The residential and retail building was then constructed around the original Ratcliffe's shop. Today, the former flower shop is home to Ratcliffe On The Green, a restaurant of French-influence cuisine. The Ratcliffe Condos sit on The Green, an uptown Charlotte Center City project that includes an underground parking deck with a passive park on top. The Green park includes fountains, landscaped walkways, motion-activated stone walls, chess boards built into stone tables and riddles on the ground.
