A bald eagle lives in the sanctuary of a wildlife habitat at Grandfather Mountain in the North Carolina mountains (Blue Ridge Parkway area). Wounded eagles found injured in the wild are nursed back to health and, if possible, are released back into the wild. Those who are permanently unable to survive in the wild remain under the care of a licensed caretaker at the park.
