A bald eagle lives in the sanctuary of a wildlife habitat at Grandfather Mountain in the North Carolina mountains (Blue Ridge Parkway area). Wounded eagles found injured in the wild are nursed back to health and, if possible, are released back into the wild. Those who are permanently unable to survive in the wild remain under the care of a licensed caretaker at the park. Grandfather Mountain is a scenic travel attraction and one of the world's most environmentally diverse nature preserves. At Grandfather Mountain's wildlife habitats, visitors get an up-close perspective of black bears and other animals as they live in the wild. Grandfather Mountain is about a two-hour drive from Charlotte, NC.
