Cape_Lookout_Lighthouse_013.JPG
The black-and-white diamond painted Cape Lookout Lighthouse in the Southern Outer Banks of North Carolina is one of the country's most eye-catching lighthouse designs. The black diamonds point in a north-south direction, while the white diamonds point east-west. The checkered daymarker is intended to show direction. The 163-foot high Cape Lookout Lighthouse is one of the few lighthouses that operate during the day. Charlotte NC photographer Patrick Schneider has extensive photo collections of the following lighthouses: Bodie Island Lighthouse, Bald Head Island Lighthouse, Cape Fear Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Cape Lookout Lighthouse, Currituck Beach Lighthouse, Diamond Shoal Lighthouse, Federal Point Lighthouse, Oak Island Lighthouse, and Ocracoke Lighthouse on Ocracoke Island.
