The Thunder Road wooden roller coaster is a racing coaster built in 1976 at the Carowinds theme Park near Charlotte, NC. Two individual tracks parallel each other on the racing roller coaster, which is built across the Carolinas state line. The coaster begins in South Carolina then crosses into North Carolina. The ride is part of Carowinds, a 112-acre theme park (amusement park) located on the state lines between North Carolina and South Carolina. The theme park is a popular summer Carolina attraction, one of three major theme parks in the Carolinas.
