Charlotte, NC's newest skyscraper, the Duke Energy Center, glows in the light of a setting sun during an October 2009 sunset. The Duke center, a 764 foot tall structure is the southern city's second tallest building. Originally conceived as the Wachovia Corporate Center, the building was renamed as the Duke Energy Center after Wells Fargo purchased Wachovia. Batson-Cook Construction and TRC International LTD built the structure, which was completed in late 2009.
