A teenage cases a fishing net on Dauphin Island, Alabama, a barrier island located three miles south of the mouth of Mobile Bay in the Gulf of Mexico. This island, which is approximately 14 miles long and less than two miles wide, appears to have fully recovered from the impact of Hurricane Katrina (2005) and the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in 2010. Both events greatly reduced tourism income (fewer people came to the island) and local business owners say many establishments went out of business. Today they say they're looking forward to a rebounding tourism business.
