Boy Scouts attending Boy Scout resident camp at Camp Raven Knob in summer 2010 take part in a camp tradition of shaving (or partially shaving) their heads during camp. Camp Raven Knob Scout Reservation, one of the largest Boy Scout camps in the United States, is located within Boy Scouts of America's Old Hickory Council in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. Troops from across the US attend the camp's one-week residential boys' summer programs, which offer instruction on more than 40 merit badges, adventure programs and new Scout orientation.
