Popular Charlotte, NC-area YMCA summer camp for children, Camp Thunderbird, since 1936 has given youngsters day camp and sleep-away resident camping opportunities. Camp Thunderbird is located along in Clover, SC, along Lake Wylie, SC, about 17 miles from Charlotte, NC. The overnight camp has nationally recognized water programs, including wakeboarding, boating and water skiing, as well as such land-based activities as horseback riding, skating, ropes course, sports and crafts. The summer camp is designed to provide boys and girls ages 7-16 with an exciting, safe experience.
