Bodie_Island_Lighthouse_052.JPG
With its well-preserved light keepers house and outbuildings, the stately Bodie Island Lighthouse is a strikingly beautiful classic coastal lighthouse, located on Bodie Island on North Carolina's Outer Banks. The light house, built in 1872, stands 156 feet tall and is located on the Roanoke Sound side of the first island that is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The lighthouse is just south of Nag's Head, a few miles before Oregon Inlet. The conical-shaped lighthouse has white and black bands with a black lantern house. Charlotte NC photographer Patrick Schneider has extensive photo collections of the following lighthouses: Bodie Island Lighthouse, Bald Head Island Lighthouse, Cape Fear Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Cape Lookout Lighthouse, Currituck Beach Lighthouse, Diamond Shoal Lighthouse, Federal Point Lighthouse, Oak Island Lighthouse, and Ocracoke Lighthouse on Ocracoke Island.
