Carowinds, a Cedar Fair Entertainment Company amusement / theme park, in 2010 unveiled its Intimidator roller coaster, the tallest, fastest and longest coaster in the Southeast. The thrill ride was inspired by NASCAR race legend Dale Earnhardt. Manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard of Switzerland, the aggressive thrill ride has capacity for 1,600 riders each hour, has a lift height of 232 feet, and reaches 80 miles per hour (80 mph). Rides on the Intimidator roller coaster last 3 minutes and 33 seconds.
